A leisurely game for scholars at banquets, originating in the pre-Qin era, flourishing during the Warring States period, and becoming a refined entertainment at feasts during the Tang and Song dynasties. Guests and the host would take arrow shafts and take turns throwing them into a pot. Each successful throw counted as one point, with the best of three rounds determining the winner. The loser would drink an agreed number of cups.
