There are many species of bees, but few are clearly named in traditional texts. Among them, the large earth-dwelling wasp is considered the most venomous. A single sting from this creature can cause a person to collapse on the spot, overwhelmed by full-body swelling and shock. Most remedies fail to bring immediate relief, and ancient formulas offer no effective cure. Even so, these wasps rarely kill. Some secret techniques involving spitting and sealing incantations offer a slight effect. There is also the calabash wasp, nearly as dangerous. Stings from other bees tend to be more manageable.
