The Dali Coins were crudely minted by the Tang Dynasty's Anxi Protectorate even though losing contact with the central Tang government after the An Lushan Rebellion. The "Li Ming's grain loan" unearthed at the Tonggusi Bashi Ancient City still records the era name "Dali 15th Year", which, however, never existed in official history.
