After a successful defense with Thundercry Blade, you can activate a special Defensive Riposte. Press the Perception Skill or Heavy Attack to perform a third stage Heavy Attack Charged Skill without charging (can be followed by a Charged Varied Combo). This can trigger once every 10s. Successfully defending against an Online Mode Boss also grants Cadence for 20s, up to 2 stacks. When your special Defensive Riposte is off cooldown, you can consume a stack of Cadence to instantly activate it and restore 1 bar of Battle Will. A successful defense has a 20% chance to restore 1 bar of Battle Will. In Arena mode, defending with Thundercry Blade increases your natural Endurance recovery speed. Hitting a target with a Light/Heavy Attack Charged Skill refunds all consumed Battle Will (once per cast, even if multiple targets are hit).
