It is said to have been composed by either Cai Yong or Zuo Si, and first appeared in the Divine Pieces of Antiquity section of the Miraculous Scores. Compiled by Zhu Quan, son of the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, this collection of scores was completed in the Yi-si year of the Hongxi Era (1425 AD). It is the earliest known surviving Chinese music composition.
