Making a donation, also known as Tanna or Dana Paramita, consists of three types, material giving, Dharma giving, and fearless giving. It is listed as one of the Six Perfections of Bodhisattvas in Buddhism and is regarded as a very important practice. The Lotus Sutra records that for the benefit of all sentient beings, the Buddha practiced self-sacrificing giving, sparing no life. Whatever sentient beings asked of the Buddha, he could bestow upon them.
