Dian is a depressive state marked by emotional withdrawal, apathy, silence, dullness, and confused speech. Under this condition, one may not know if they are hungry or full, and in severe cases, they may become stiff and stare blankly. This is seen as a deficiency condition. "Kuang" is a manic state, with symptoms like agitation, restlessness, a messy appearance, aggression, nonstop talking or laughing, frequent anger, and, in extreme cases, reckless or bizarre behavior.
