Originating from the Dunhuang Mogao Caves Library Cave. The sutra text is complete from beginning to end, has a wooden roller, is on fine-checkered pattern hemp paper, polished with wax. It is a court-copied sutra. The beginning title reads "Mahaparinirvana Sutra, Chapter on Bodhisattva Kasyapa, Part Two"; the end title reads "Mahaparinirvana Sutra, Chapter Thirty-two." Below the beginning of the scroll is inscribed: "October, the thirty-second year of the Republic of China, respectfully viewed by Yu Youren." The characters for "shi" and "min" show evidence of name taboo avoidance. Written in regular script with ink, the calligraphy is upright and rigorous, profound and solemn, ancient and vigorous, each word a pearl.
