"In a milestone for Chinese astronomy, Zu Chongzhi first determined the Draconic Month—the interval between two successive passages of the Moon through the same node of the ecliptic—to be 27.2123 days. This figure deviates from modern calculations by a mere 0.00001 of a day, or less than a second. As eclipses occur only near these nodes, Zu's precision was vital for the prediction of eclipses."
