Also known as Ji (palpitations), this condition is primarily caused by a deficiency of Yang Qi or depletion of Yin Blood, resulting in the heart being deprived of nourishment. It may also stem from internal phlegm retention, blood stasis, or obstruction of the heart meridians, leading to impaired circulation. Ji typically occurs in episodes, often triggered by emotional disturbance or excessive fatigue. The patient feels their heartbeat suddenly increase, accompanied by anxiety, restlessness, and a loss of composure. Symptoms often occur alongside insomnia, forgetfulness, dizziness, and tinnitus.
