Over the course of his career, he presented dozens of memorials, most of them urging measures such as opening the granaries, lowering rice prices, curbing the illicit salt trade, and inspecting military provisions. He usually burned his drafts at once, so few of them were ever preserved. He later took charge of the imperial examinations and was promoted to Assistant Councillor.
