Wheatley suddenly charges at the grain pile and messes it all up. He kicks bamboo baskets across the yard.
But he is a good dog, because he has his reasons.
Lately, there has been tension at the canal docks. When the workers get busy, their tempers flare, and they fight over the smallest things.
Watching two men raise their voices, shoving each other, about to quarrel again, Wheatley's eyes dart around. He pounces on the grain pile beside them, wagging his tail left and right, making a huge mess. Sure enough, the two men stop arguing and chase him away, shouting, "Hey! Stop making trouble! Have we been feeding you for nothing?"
After this happens a few times, some sharp-eyed workers catch on. Wheatley isn't making trouble; he's breaking up fights. Good dog. Good dog. Next time, extra bones for you!
