Truth is, dogs here don't lack for food. There are more meaty bones than any one dog could finish alone.
Yet Miser still growls and barks others away, warily carries his bones to a corner, and expertly buries the leftovers.
But who is he saving them for? Even Miser doesn't know. He only remembers long ago, when he and his little sister went hungry for days, with nothing to eat. She grew so thin.
