Erysipelas, or Heavenly Fire, it begins as red markings on the flesh, sometimes as large as a palm. Severe cases cover the body, causing itching and swelling with no fixed pattern. In White Dan, the flesh swells and itches with aching pain; the swelling feels airy, like wind trapped under skin. In Crest Dan, red bumps rise in clusters, as large as a chain of coins or as small as millet seeds, with a texture like a crest; also called Dogwood Dan. In Water Dan, heat spreads across the body and, when mingled with damp, forms pustules like water under the skin, shimmering yellow-red and often found on the thighs and groin. Though seemingly minor at onset, if left untreated, it may lead to death.
