His owner is so strange. He can go out and play every day, with plenty of friends, but why is he still hiding and whimpering, or sitting alone and staring into space?
Stubby asks his good friend, a dog named Iron Wok.
Iron Wok explains that humans throw away the bones when they eat, so with no bones to lick, of course, they're unhappy.
This makes perfect sense to Stubby. The next day, he travels far, searching carefully until he finds the most delicious-looking bone. He carries it all the way home, drooling and starving, but never takes a single bite.
Finally home, he places the bone by his owner's bed, hoping that if his owner licks it, the tears will stop.
