Ice Soul had no idea how long she had been running, or how many times she had fallen. Her hands and legs were covered in scrapes.
But when she pushed open the door to her room, she found it filled with a soft, swirling radiance—a light emanating from the visitor herself.
Gently, the woman took Ice Soul's hand and accepted the water jar.
"I, too, have a rabbit by my side. She's just as lovely as you."
"Are you... the moon?" Ice Soul managed to ask, immediately feeling how absurd the question was.
Even more absurdly, the visitor smiled and nodded.
The Lunar Goddess lifted the water jar, took a small sip, and smiled contentedly.
"Don't tell anyone. This is a secret between you and me."
"Here, this is for you." With a wave of her sleeve, a soft, white bun appeared in Ice Soul's hands.
"I hope you like it. I must go now. Farewell." The goddess dissolved into the light and was gone in an instant.
Outside the window, gentle moonlight once again crept onto the windowsill.
Rubbing her eyes, Ice Soul saw only a clear moon in the sky. If not for the warmth of the bun in her hand, she could hardly believe what had just happened.
After all, she was just a rabbit.
