Leaving home young with ambitious goals, I now settle at Celestial Spring Station after years adrift on this arduous journey. The desert stretches vast and majestic, yet this wandering bird still dreams of home.
Father, you grow older—please take care and rest well. Mother, as winter nears, the persimmons in the yard will ripen. Leave a few for the birds, to sweeten the cold days.
I still remember the chestnut cakes you made, soft and sweet—unforgettable. If you can, send some to Celestial Spring Station, to ease my homesick heart.
