Ye Wanshan was once a famed general of the north,
to protect a city and its people, he sacrificed even his wife and child.
Yet the city still fell.
Unable to accept that all his sacrifices had led only to defeat,
Ye Wanshan lost himself to madness.
To force Emperor Shizong's hand into restarting the Northern Campaign,
he went so far as to pose as the enemy and slaughter his own people.
When Ye Wanshan finally came to his senses, he locked himself in the Pagoda of Karma,
hoping that the chanting of the Dharma in the Bodhi Sea might one day awaken his lost mind.
