Releasing life is not some secret never passed on. From what I know, long ago, many camel herders knew a bit of this practice. Different people followed different rituals for "releasing life". some lit red willow shoots, some took camels to mineral cracks to recite the Medicine Buddha Sutra, some applied salt from specific years to the humps. Miraculously, almost all of them succeeded. Thus, people believed the root of the practice's effectiveness was the desert's gratitude, rituals and props were merely mediums to stir this power of gratitude. But that was all before the sandstorms appeared. Sandstorms have destroyed so much. I haven't seen anyone who knows how to "release life" in years. Camel Station has been built for less than three years. I once thought it would be just another thing easily destroyed by sandstorms. On the day the old man "released life" at Camel Station for the first time, I drank an entire jar of fine wine. The world is full of separations and reunions, life follows the cycle of birth and death. Such is Hexim every end is a new beginning. Witchcraft? No, that is the dignity of life.
