The Temple of the Martial King, also known as the Martial Temple, stands outside Kaifeng's city walls, enshrining military generals of past dynasties. Built into the mountainside with tiered depth, the temple mirrors the Confucian Temple in layout, featuring a central Saint, ten Philosophers, and seventy-two Generals in solemn ranks. Heavily guarded around the clock, it conceals an underground chamber—an exact replica of the temple above, housing weapons and armors of Later Zhou warlords. Strangely, the God of Slaughter's statue occupies the Saint's throne, and the foremost seat among the Ten Philosophers belongs to Li Jun, a general who rebelled against the Song dynasty at its founding and perished by self-immolation.
