The existing manuscript is incomplete at the beginning and end, with no title. The transformation text narrates the story of Zhang Yichao, leader of the Guiyi Army in Shazhou (administered in present-day western Dunhuang, Gansu), leading the people to defeat foreign invasions and recover Hehuang during the Dazhong reign of the Tang Dynasty. It is a local work in Dunhuang transformation texts directly based on Dunhuang historical events.
