The Heart is the sovereign of the body; from it, all consciousness and clarity emerge. If the sovereign is bright, all below shall be at peace. Such is the way of nurturing life and attaining longevity, passing from this world without fear, bringing prosperity to the realm. If the sovereign is clouded, the Twelve Officials fall into peril. The pathways of Qi will become blocked, the body gravely harmed. To nourish life this way brings misfortune; to govern this way brings ruin. Heed this well, heed it twice.
