While other dogs sniff around for bones all day, Firewood pricks up his ears, listening for music.
He follows the sound of strings to many places. He used to hang around Velvet Shade. Lately, he discovered the Fairgrounds.
And just like humans have preferences, Firewood has his own tastes. After sampling many tunes, his favorite is the erhu music at the Fairgrounds. Whenever the musician starts playing, Firewood comes running from afar. The deep, resonant sound makes him bob his head. Sometimes, when the mood strikes, he even howls along.
Firewood is truly an old opera fan.
