East of Celestial Spring Station, wind and sand gradually subside. Further ahead, wisps of cooking smoke drift upward, mingling with the clamor of voices and the lively trade of merchants. To the north of the village lies a well canal, said to be a Karez Well dug in ancient times, still yielding clear water for drinking. Jade Gate Pass has suffered from severe drought for ages, making the well extremely precious. Thus, the village was named Karez.
The villagers here all know how to listen to the wind. They can tell where the wind comes from and predict the rise and fall of sandstorms. Once someone asked about their secret technique.
