Young Master, a very happy New Year to you. The firecrackers outside reminded me of Spring Festival's Eve long ago. My master said that children who keep the vigil until dawn will be the most blessed in the coming year. So I dragged you along to stay up all night with me, waiting for the light of day. Who knew we wouldn't even last until the third watch? Our heads were nodding like little chicks pecking for grain, thumping against the table... The truth is... I was simply terrified of those thunderous booms. I only insisted you stay so my heart could feel at ease. I stayed awake longer this year. With the occasional crackle of firecrackers outside, the room feels strangely quiet. I wonder if it is lively where you are; you are always on my mind. I have prepared a little something for you. Keep it safe, now. May the New Year bring you peace. Take good care of yourself on your travels.
