I've heard about Chongyuan Hall for ages. Coronations, grand court assemblies, year-end rites, if it's big enough, it happens there. I've been itching to see it for myself. Today I finally made it as far as the wall, but the security is insane.
Side gate is a dead end. Want the main hall, you have to go in from the front, and it's checkpoint after checkpoint. The square is packed with Imperial Guards in perfect ranks. They're rehearsing for the ceremony, that's what people say. Just looking at them makes my knees go weak. Still, when the guard shifts rotated, I managed to steal a few glimpses, peeking over the wall again and again.
No way I'm getting in today, but I've got a plan. On the day of the ceremony, with drums, crowds, and teams coming and going, I might be able to blend in. If I get caught... well. At least I'll have seen what it's like inside. Worth it.
