Fengqiu Gate was the western gate on the northern wall of Kaifeng city, capital of the Later Liang during the Five Dynasties period. Though its name was initially "Fengqiu," it was renamed to "Hanyao Gate" in the first year of the Kaiping era. Nevertheless, locals continued to call it by its old name. In the first year of the Tongguang era under the Later Tang, Li Siyuan's army marched on Daliang through Fengqiu Gate. Later, in the third year of the Tian Fu era under the Later Jin, it was renamed once again as "Xuanyang Gate," though common folk still referred to it as Fengqiu Gate.
