Lu Ban, Also called Gongshu Ban, Gongshu Pan, was a legendary craftsman of the Spring and Autumn period, famed for inventions like the cloud ladder, retracting hooks, wooden magpies and other wondrous inventions. He famously debated Mozi on the ethics of warfare and is venerated today as the patron of carpentry and woodworking.
