Su Wangting's first year in the capital. Kaifeng City was a world apart from his village: official roads smooth as a whetstone, Revelry Hall ablaze every night, and the market's din never-failing. Yet he found shadows of home even here: the gaunt, sallow faces of the commoners, and refugees wandering with nowhere to call their own...
