As recorded in New History of the Five Dynasties, in the winter of the second year of the Kaiyun era, Khitan cavalry severed Jin supply routes. General Wang Qing led an infantry of 2,000 soldiers to seize a bridge but was abandoned by his hesitant commander. Wang Qing sighed, "I will die here alone!" Then he fought to death with his soldiers and generals.
