This white mushroom is most often seen at night. Where it grows, pale mist gathers and fireflies linger. At sunrise, it vanishes. For this reason, people say it is born where moonlight falls to the earth. The Painting of Immortals Gathering Herbs records a "Luminous Lingzhi": "It grows on the shaded side of famed mountains, in cool springs in great valleys, among rock and stone, with drifting clouds above." It is likely the same.
