In the year 936, during the Battle of Jin'an Fort, the Tang general Zhao Dejun surrendered to the Khitan. His three thousand soldiers of the Silver-Saddle Khitan Regiment in Youzhou were all slaughtered by Yelu Deguang for their prior submission to the Han. Zhao Dejun and his son were then escorted to the Liao Court.
