Zhang Cunxiu is a man of few words but profound action. He listens to the villagers' desperate pleas for water and, in return, silently hands them a newly forged pickaxe from his seemingly bottomless toolbox. His dedication is legendary in the village; it's often said that even death couldn't stop his hammer. His soul is bound to a single creed: there must be a pickaxe, so there can be water.
