The Cat-ismatic Immortal doesn't quite understand how it got here. It was once the smallest in its family. Then came the fire, an incomprehensible cruelty that left it the only one. It lost everything. In return, it gained the freedom spoken of only in legends. It holds no kindness for this wretched world. On nights haunted by recurring nightmares, it lets out piercing, mournful cries—cries that have, ironically, saved countless desert travelers from wild beasts as they dozed on the sands. Because of this, many see it as a guardian spirit: the Cat-ismatic Immortal. Survivors return, hoping for a single touch, but it meets every approach with a snarl, keeping all at bay. Yet, the more it withdraws, the more devoted they become, until a following forms to worship it as a master. Sometimes, the Cat-ismatic Immortal wonders: are these "servants" its family? Or has its family returned in some new form? It won't admit needing them. It still howls through the night. But perhaps now, it's no longer from the nightmares.
