Gou Di is a rough-and-ready guard, but the little dog it picked up, Nini, is an absolute "connoisseur." Nini doesn't care for meat buns. It would rather listen to music. Whenever the musicians rehearse, it shows up to "audit" the performance. If it likes what it hears, it sings along with happy barks, tail wagging as it spins in circles. But hit a wrong note and Nini will let out a dramatic howl, flop onto its back with all four paws in the air, and play dead on the spot. The performers never recover from the shame. Over time, earning even a single approving "woof" from Nini became something the musicians bragged about. For fairness, they even laid down a hard rule: no one is allowed to bribe the judge with dried meat. Now the Changchun Festival is near, and a grand show at Qingshou Hall is about to begin. The troupe is ready. No further explanation needed. Nini's strictest judging is about to start.
