Heidan is Veggie's best dog buddy. They live together in a secluded courtyard full of flowers and greenery.
When they were little, Veggie found it in the grass. Back then, Heidan was caked in soot and mud, black from head to toe, so passersby called it "Heidan."
Only after Veggie kept licking its fur clean did its real markings show through. That was when everyone realized it was actually a pretty little spotted dog.
To keep Heidan fed, Veggie saved half of its own dried fish and somehow raised Heidan to be even sturdier than itself.
Now, whenever the afternoon sun turns warm, Heidan races all over the palace to sniff out something tasty for Veggie, then runs back to their grass nest to bask in the sun with Veggie, heads resting together.
For Heidan, life has two greatest joys: seeing the sun, and seeing Veggie.
