Jianlong Temple, originally named "Primordial Azure," was built by Emperor Shizong who revered Daoism, housing the Three Pure Ones and facing the Imperial City to the north. Its design embodied a political metaphor: "Ruling with virtue is like the North Star, fixed in place as bright stars revolve around it." In February of the 6th year of Xiande, Emperor Shizong still visited the Primordial Azure Temple to inspect the bell he had bestowed. Today, the bell remains—where is the man now? Alas, what a lament.
