I am a disciple of Lone Cloud, trapped here and fated to die. May this writing serve those who follow me into this place. On the first day, we mustered on the field and fought with valor. I presumed that once the battle was won, we could leave the pass. But after scores of battles, through both victory and defeat, we found ourselves returned to the place where the war drums sound. It is a loop without end. I have kept watch. For one day, I stood guard at the supply tower and saw the soldiers move grain fifteen times. The moment I stepped away, they stopped. For another, I sat atop the city tower as arrows rained down without pause. The moment I left, they ceased. It has been forty-nine days, forty-nine cycles. My attempts to escape have been countless, and all have failed. This city is a graveyard for hundreds. They were likely martial artists like myself, drawn into this trap. Some left notes, others carvings, but the wind and sand have claimed most of them. To this day, I have found no answers. I know only this: the secret lies with the Anxi Army, and with Guo Xin.
