Yi Dao always thought he'd die at the hands of Zhong Wangchou. The two of them had once even been sworn brothers. Zhong Wangchou had helped him find the rare metal needed to forge the Killerblade, so Yi Dao had sworn never to use that blade against him, even when Zhong Wangchou later poisoned him, intent on killing him. Just before he collapsed, Yi Dao caught a glimpse of someone in white stepping in front of him. Another nosy do-gooder, he thought. When Yi Dao woke again, Zhong Wangchou was gone. Only the white-clad swordsman remained. This man introduced himself as Chu Qingquan, a Well of Heaven disciple.Yi Dao had always hated getting mixed up with righteous sect types, yet it was one of them who'd saved him this time. "Do you have a grudge against Zhong Wangchou?" "Maybe I do, maybe I don't." "It's either yes or no. What's with this'maybe' business? Talking to people like you is exhausting!" "...I'm here to eliminate the Thirteen Fiends." "Hmph. Well, I'm one of them. Since you killed Zhong Wangchou, let's say I owe you one. If you want to kill me, now's your chance." "I won't kill you." "Why not?" "You're different from the other twelve." People from these righteous sects always talked in circles and changed their minds every other minute. Yi Dao couldn't be bothered to figure it all out, nor did he care to ask how he was different from the others. All he knew was that Chu Qingquan had saved him, and he owed him. From then on, the two of them wandered the martial world together for years, until the day Chu Qingquan died. Later, people would say: The Killerblade was the thirteenth among the notorious Thirteen Fiends, hot-tempered, reckless, and uncontrollable. Chu Qingquan was a disciple of an esteemed sect, pure-hearted and devoted to justice. By rights, they should never have crossed paths. But Killerblade valued loyalty, and Chu Qingquan valued righteousness, and so the two became the closest of friends. After Chu Qingquan's death, Yi Dao honored his final request and set off alone for Heaven's Pier, never breaking his word throughout his life.
