Every child in Heaven's Pier was convinced they were the local cuju champion. And honestly, you couldn't blame them. The adults encouraged every single one of them. "Beautiful kick!" "So I'm the best, right?" "Of course you are!" From one end of the village to the other, they all got the same answer. So by the reunion dinner, the whole table was packed with "number one players." "I kick the farthest!" "I've got the best moves!" "I'm the real cuju king around here!" The room was so loud it sounded like they might bring the roof down. The adults just smiled and listened, sneaking extra bites of greens into their bowls while the children argued. Children only have so much attention to spare. If they're busy yelling, they're not paying attention to what's in their mouths.
