To the Grand Marshal of Raging Tides,
I have failed you. During the breakout in the north, I was grievously wounded and separated from my fellow disciples. Yet while recovering at this manor, I learned that the Qi family had once been deceived by Du Chongwei, and that a great hoard of wealth wrung from the people had been hidden within the tunnels. The northern foe has only just gained a foothold here. They do not yet know where the treasure lies, nor have they received much in the way of reinforcement. I have therefore resolved to take this risk.
If fortune favors me and I recover the people's wealth, so much the better. If I should die instead, then that last mouthful of River All Red bestowed by you, Grand Marshal, I shall leave in some fitting place deep within Sheathed Passage. When you find it, you may drink with your disciple once more.

The northern foe has already broken into the rear of the camp, seized Ragehoof Hamlet, and entrenched themselves within the underground Sheathed Passage, clearly intending to cut off the grain route.
