I was once a Midnight Blades disciple, my twin blades passing judgment in the dead of night. Now I'm a fish-scaling cook, those same twin blades scraping scales from the day's catch. The Buddha speaks of life's eight sufferings. I swore to deliver all beings beyond them. But tell me, does a blade of grass, a tree, a fish, or a cut of meat count as "a being"? Do they, too, need deliverance from suffering?
