Along the banks of the Hutuo stands a small town, ringed by mountains and rivers of striking beauty, truly a place favored by the land. In the Spring and Autumn period, the Jin minister Luan Shu held power and took this place as his fief, and so it came to be called Luancheng.
Over the course of a thousand years, Luancheng's name and administrative status changed more than once. During the Later Liang, it was for a time renamed Luanshi County in observance of a naming taboo. It now bears the name Luancheng County once again.
The people of Luancheng are plain and honest in their ways, and once made their living chiefly by farming. In recent years, however, war has raged without end, the people have suffered terribly, and their means of survival have nearly been cut off. Fortunately, with the help of Dragonbend Academy, locally woven homespun has won a name for itself across the region, easing the burden of daily life. They have also learned Mohist mechanical arts, and their devices are finely made, ready to defend against danger when the need arises.
