Brant never imagined he would one day travel so far. The journey north to Hutuo was arduous. He witnessed refugees everywhere, encountered brawling deserters, and faced threats from bandits. Along the way, his hair grew unkempt, his green robe soaked, and his luggage lost. Only the good luck charm given by his junior martial brothers remained safely tucked away. However, the thousand-mile trek had accidentally chipped a corner of the jade pendant. Annoyed by his carelessness, he thought of repairing it during future moments of leisure. Adjusting his attire, he continued forward. He was heading toward an equally shattered corner of the war-torn world outside the mountains. That realm, too, awaited his repairs.
