Seven's favorite thing isn't a bone; it's a mynah bird.
Whoever he likes, he licks. So the mynah's feathers are often damp.
The mynah's owner is a copper-headed eccentric. The ding-ding-dang-dang music echoing in the valley is, it's said, made by this Copper-Head Man.
Seven likes him, too. After all, judging by the names, Seven and Xiaoba, they should be from the same litter.
That day, Seven was intently giving the mynah bird a "head wash" when the Copper-Head man happened to walk in.
Half of the mynah bird's body had already disappeared into the dog's mouth. Xiaoba (the man) was so scared his head nearly fell off. He shouted, "Let go!"
Startled by the shout, Seven's mouth opened, and the mynah bird fluttered out, landing steadily on top of Seven's head.
It tilted its head, imitating the man's tone, and chirped crisply: "Let go!"
Xiaoba was stunned for a second, then burst into laughter.
Seven doesn't understand why he's so excitable. He just wags his tail, listens to the ding-dang sounds from the valley, rubs against the man's pant leg, and looks up at the bird on his head. It's good; everyone he likes is right here.
