The name Ran was given by the General. Before that, he had no name, just a thin stray dog whose bones poked through his skin. Wild dogs eat what humans leave behind; he could only eat what the wild dogs left behind. But even for a half-rotten bone, other dogs would sometimes fight him for it. Grrr... he bit down on that half-bone, refusing to let go, His legs were shaking, his teeth were shaking, If he let go, he would have nothing. Until a pair of boots stopped before him, and he heard others call the owner of those boots "General." The General knelt down, stroked his head, and said, Come with me. And so he became a military hound in the camp. Although Ran often wondered, there are so many powerful dogs in the camp, And he was just a useless little stray; what could he possibly achieve? But whenever the General looked at him, he would wag his tail as hard as he could. Because he would never let the General down. Woof, woof, woof!
