When Brokegate Village was filled with swordsmen, he finally understood why the master had left. He told his parents, but they only told him to stay out of trouble. With no master to scold him, no classmates to play with, even the old men from next door and upstairs kept their doors shut. So Wang Xiaoshou sat alone, setting up the pieces just as the manuals showed. He was about to play left hand against right when a shadow fell across the board. "Hey, kid. Playing?" It turned out these wanderers were alright. At least they didn't bully kids or loot the village. Mostly, they just sat down to play him... and beat him soundly. Wang Xiaoshou liked asking about the Jianghu. Some answered, some stayed silent. Some flipped the board in a fit after losing, then others quietly set it back up and kept playing. "Great hero," he asked once, "where is the Jianghu?" The man across from him tipped his hat lower. "Where you stand is the Jianghu." Wang Xiaoshou snorted. Before these guys start walking the Jianghu, they must all go to the same school. Something like "Jianghu 101." Otherwise, why do they all sound exactly the same?
