A tiny, pitch-black fellow born at the turn of autumn and winter. At night, the palace servants often mistook him for a piece of fallen charcoal, which is how he got his name. As he grew older, Coalball once spent an entire day playing "tag" with a fresh delivery of charcoal. Later, while resting, he watched with his own eyes as a servant picked up his charcoal "playmates," tossed them into a brazier, and lit them on fire... Since then, Coalball gives every brazier a wide berth.
