Cats don't hibernate. But Spring Herald, well, Spring Herald thought she was special. As winter's chill approached, she'd gather treasures: a few fruits, some stray wheat stalks, and with a well-placed "meow" by the humans' door, a warm bed of straw would appear. Thirsty? She had her fruits. Hungry? She had her grain. Feeling peckish? A "meow" or two would summon a dried fish right to her doorstep. She'd laze away the cold months in perfect comfort. Then, one day, the first brave flower would pierce the frost, its scent a tiny trumpet call. "Meow! Meow!" Spring Herald would announce, and the humans would chuckle. Spring had arrived.
