Take refined iron ore, black as lacquer, hard in texture.
Pound it with a water pestle, then grind it with a stone mill.
Grind for one day, grains are like rice; grind for two days, like millet; grind for three days, obtain powder as fine as flour.
Further grinding yields no benefit.
Then sieve, keeping the light and fine—re-grind the coarse grains, striving for uniformity.
I have heard, "The finer the ore, the closer the fire." Now I test it.
